Some Useful Battery Information
Please read this before using your new battery!
Cordless phone batteries, Cell phones, PDAs, Power Tool Batteries, and all devices with the chemistries below
These types of batteries can be NIMH, NiCad, or Lithium Ion all these three chemistries have similar properties when looking after them.
Initial charge- all three types of batteries should be fully charged overnight on receipt.
Charges 2-6- it is very important to fully charge the battery and then use the battery until the device says low battery. There is no need to force a discharge just use the device as normal until the battery runs down to about 20% of its charge. The important thing about these 2-6 conditioning cycles is that you do not top up the battery until it reaches about 20% of its charge. Do not let the battery run flat, especially on the first 3-4 cycles.
After conditioning- the best course of action to lengthen the life of these types of batteries is to only replace the device on the charger when the device needs charging. All three chemistries of batteries can be cycled around 500 times if the device was placed on the charger once every day after one use the battery would last approx 500 days if placed on the charger twice a day after use the battery would last approx 250 days. A battery does not half cycle so even if the battery was 80% charged a full cycle will be used when it is placed on charge.
SLA Batteries
This type of chemistry does not need conditioning the battery can be cycled around 300-400 times, although the battery is best used heavily at the top end of its charge. This battery should be topped up and not used till flat.
The average life of an SLA battery is 2-3 years depending on use and care.
Laptop Batteries
Most laptop batteries today use Lithium Ion Technology. The recommended care is slightly different from that above.
Initial charge- The battery should be fully charged overnight on receipt.
Charges 2-6- it is very important to fully charge the battery and then use the battery until the device is discharged to only about 20% of its charge. Do not let the battery drain down completely or the charging circuit in the laptop may not detect a good battery. This is especially important in the first 5 cycles. There is no need to force a discharge just use the device as normal until the battery runs down. The important thing about these 2-6 conditioning cycles is that you do not top up the battery until it reaches 20% of its charge.
After conditioning- the best course of action to lengthen the life of these types of batteries is more difficult to ascertain the main problem is that if you are constantly plugging in and out of the mains adaptor the battery life will be reduced significantly. .The best thing to do is to make sure that you fully cycle the battery and let it run low at least once a month. Lithium batteries need to be exercised to maintain their usability.

All About Our Paid Shipping Services
Canadianbatteries.com offers a wide variety of shipping methods through Canada Post, FedEx, UPS, Canpar, and Purolator. It's up to you to select the method best suited to your time scale and budget. Some shipping methods are not available for certain products.
Shipping costs are automatically calculated by our intelligent shipping estimation program based on the weight, distance to the destination, and the shipping service. To obtain your shipping cost, add the desired items to your shopping cart, proceed to checkout, and enter your postal code. Here you will be shown the available shipping methods, expected transit times, and the estimated delivery date with pricing.
It's important to understand that in-transit times and delivery dates are the best estimates provided by the respective carriers. Once we hand off the package to the carriers, responsibility for carrier or weather-related delays is passed to them. Transit times should be calculated only on business days and do not include weekends and holidays. Depending on product availability, this may postpone the actual shipping dates.
We endeavor to ship most orders by the next business day, but certain products, including sealed lead acid, may take longer. If there is a delay longer than five days, we will notify you. We can only ship to PO Boxes with Canada Post; FedEx and all our other services cannot deliver to post office boxes. We will require at least one business day for order processing.
